Future Growers

We are a host farm for the ‘Organic Growers of Ireland’s apprentice organic growing programme, ‘Future Growers’.

So far we have supported three apprentices: Sergio, Louise, and Rebecca, to successfully complete the scheme here at Moyleabbey Organic Farm.  Check out this article from The Farming Independent about the apprenticeship programme on our farm: http://tinyurl.com/lx9kfwe

Our current apprentice, Jeremy is writing a blog about his experiences on the internship!  Check it out at: https://foodture.ie/2018/09/04/a-growers-diary-future-farmers-fair-food-futures/

The ‘Future Growers’ internship scheme is funded by the Department of Agriculture.

The programme provides comprehensive paid work experience in Organic Horticulture in some of the best organic farms in the country.

Alongside the hands-on work experience there is a comprehensive programme of workshops, farm walks and training days delivered by experts from the sector.

It is a minimum six months programme which starts in March/April, depending on the individual farm placement.

It is open to people with a horticultural qualification or those with at least one year’s work experience on a farm.
